FORMER footballer Ashley Cain has landed himself a new BBC show which sees him investigate the world’s most extreme danger zones.
He will fly around the world to hostile environments to find out what life is like in these challenges corners of the globe.
It marks the first time that Ashley, 33, will have his own series with BBC Three – and is expected to air in early 2025.
Ashley Cain: Into The Danger Zone will see fearless star will take viewers deep into hostile environments to show what’s happening to expose the reality of life within them.
A TV insider said: “Ashley will head to some of the most dangerous places on the planet for this exciting new series.
“After everything he has been through, raising money for his late daughter’s charity through physical challenges, he’s very much up for a tough new trial.
“Like telly tough guy Ross Kemp, Ashley will get stuck in with locals to find out what life is really like in these testing destinations.”
It comes as Ashley has been busy taking on a series of challenges to raise money in memory of his late daughter Azaylia.
Azaylia passed away when she was just 8 months old in April 2021, to acute myeloid leukaemia.
His latest challenge saw Ashley scaled the summit of Africa’s highest mountain, in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania.
He said: “I was suffering with severe altitude sickness. I had a bad headache, felt exhausted, dizzy and was throwing up. Combined with the fact that my diaphragm felt squeezed so tight, I was struggling to get air into my lungs.”
And at one difficult moment, Ashley experienced an ‘exhaustion fit.’
He said: “I broke down into an exhaustion fit, powerless, with my eyes rolling to the back of my head. Truthfully I didn’t know how I was going to make it down and scarily I wasn’t too stressed about it.”
He’s currently completing an Ultraman challenge, running, cycling and kayaking his way across the entire UK.
It comes after Ashley took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2022, where he made it to the final.
On the show, he broke down in tears as he told the directing staff about how he was affected by the death of his daughter.
In March, Ashley opened up about how he was struggling to celebrate Easter after losing Azaylia – leaving him “smiling through tears”.
He said: “Day to day life, you suck it up and smile, but these times of the year prove extremely difficult.
“This day should be an incredibly happy day with my son, but since last night I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the last Easter I spent with my daughter.
“The 4th April 2021 was a very sad and painful day for so many reasons and one that completely breaks me to revisit, as 20 days later, Azaylia took her final breaths and left us for heaven.”
Azaylia passed peacefully in the arms of her parents, Ashley and Safiyya, at their home in Nuneaton, Warks, in April 2021.
After supporting each other in their darkest hour, the couple announced their split last year.
Two years after she lost her fight for life aged just eight months, reality star Ashley became a dad again to a little boy.
Ashley and Safiyya have dedicated their lives to The Azaylia Foundation — fighting the shortage of doctors and treatments specialising in childhood cancer, while also supporting families requiring treatment abroad.
